Kalamazoo Lend a Hand engages our community and its youth to participate in assembling and distributing
needed supplies. Among its initial activities (providing supplies to six of the Kalamazoo Public Schools as well as
distributing Winter Gear and backpacks with school supplies at the Day of Dignity, Martin Luther king Park, Kalamazoo) Kalamazoo
Lend a Hand leveraged 405 volunteer hours. Further, Kalamazoo Lend a Hand looks to establish and strengthen relationships
between small and local groups with an interest in serving youth in need within our public schools. Kalamazoo Lend a
Hand sees partnerships and collaboration as essential in delivering comprehensive provision to the youth in our schools. Through
such partnerships, Kalamazoo Lend a Hand aims to increase the strength and diversity among the many groups operating in our
community. Such commitment was affirmed among Kalamazoo Lend a Hand’s initial activities, with its participation
at the Day of Dignity, in collaboration with other organizations building relationship around the common commitment to the
well-being of all our community’s youth. Further, Kalamazoo Lend a Hand operated a booth at the annual Kalamazoo
Ethnic Diversity Festival. Encouraging youth and community involvement is a major component of all Kalamazoo Lend
a Hand activities. Not everyone wants to get involved in the same way. Contact us to learn of current upcoming opportunities
for involvement in Kalamazoo Lend a Hand activities. Most often opportunities involve the packing and preparations for
items that will be distributed to needy children in our communities, or help in distributing the items. However, in
certain cases where overwhelming unserved needs are present, Kalamazoo Lend a Hand helps provide additional services to underserved
children; such activities will be listed as they arise.
